It’s not like we’re exactly just mating, it’s matters of the heart we’re talking about here, and they don’t actually think in terms of evolutionary benefit most of the time.

yeah my parents say the same thing. they are 7 years apart and my dad also says men kind if stay fitter longer and so need a woman younger than them to keep up. but what you said makes complete sense in the evolutionary sense however that doesnt mean i would only go for aguy older than me..i would most likely choose a guy i loved

From an evolutionary biology perspective, the understanding of evolution in that article is problematic. Natural selection isn’t this logical mechanism selecting the best traits and evolution isn’t a process by which we will eventually create the most amazing humans ever. It’s random and non-progressive. I thought I would add that for what it’s worth…

Since the current average lifespan is around 75 years, the only way to really increase the lifespan of humans is for women to be with men who are 75 years or older. Sorry, but that’s disgusting. Very few women in their right mind would want some wrinkly old man, when she could have a nice virile guy somewhere more near her own age. Unless, of course, she’s a gold digger or he has a damn good personality.
Secondly, there’s nothing gross of harmful about cougars. They may not be providing the longevity boost that 75+ men could conceivably provide, but they aren’t hurting humanity in any way.
Raise awareness if you want, but that doesn’t mean anyone is going to be more likely to do it. Especially not when it means young women are going to be getting the raw end of the deal while nasty old men get an unfair bonus.
I honestly don’t think you care much about improving the human race…I think you just want to make gross old men dating younger women more socially acceptable, while making older women dating young men socially unacceptable…probably for your own benefit when you’re older rather than the benefit of the human race.

My my dad is almost 11 years older than my mom and theyve been married 43 years, and to the people who said that older men who go for younger women are creeps, my dad was a virgin when he married at the age of 29 and and my mom was also at the age of 18. Im 40 and still a virgin, and definatly when i get married i wanna have kids, and ive had lots of younger women that have liked me .
